If there's one thing I wish someone told me during my years of gym classes, cross-fit, "clean" eating, cleansing and ordering low fat vegan ice cream it would be this:
~YOUR PERIOD IS THE MORE IMPORTANT THAN 6-PACK ABS~
I went 11 years without a period and thought nothing of it, in fact I liked it cause I didn't have to "deal" with tampons , acne, bloating, cramps or PMS. What I didn't know at that time was that there was a trade off to my teenage years without a pimple which I would one day severely regret.
Amenorrhea, lack of menses, puts a women at high risk for:
~Vaginal Dryness/ Vaginal Atrophy
I am not exaggerating with the above consequences. They are very real, very prevalent and a women with longterm amenorrhea is likely to experience most if not ALL of these symptoms.
Amenorrhea is most commonly caused by three things;
#3- Mental, Physical + Emotional Stress
Rates of Amenorrhea are skyrocketing as many girls are desperately trying to fit societies I\mold of what a "perfect" body should look like. We do fasted exercise, eat salads for lunch, count our calories (make sure we don't go above 1200), workout religiously without many rest days, and skip out on dessert.
So what is one to do if they notice that their monthly visitor has gone MIA?
