Can coaching help you get your period back?

January 8, 2020

Do I have to have a coach to get my period back?

No don’t be preposterous,  of course, you can get your period back on your own.

All it takes is for you to release all food restrictions, unconditionally eat a minimum of 2500 calories a day (while at th

e same time not counting calories), stop all intense exercise, gain weight and chill the heck down.

Okay, ready, now go!

Harder than it seems right? There's so much tied into our dietary philosophies and exercise behaviors making it difficult to change. Add to that the immense pressure from society to be thin and the resulting fat phobia we have towards our bodies, changing our behaviors and subsequently gaining weight is now the scariest decision we have ever had to make. We don’t want to gain weight, we want to keep exercising to maintain our figure, we don’t want to eat processed carbs or nutrient-dense foods, we just want to keep doing what we want to do... and at the same time have a period.

If you felt very hesitant about the idea of eating more and exercising less then yes, coaching could be very beneficial to you.

I thought that I could overcome my disordered eating and exercise addiction by myself and hey, I did…. 11 years later🤣. By that time I had lost a lot of bone density (putting me at a big risk for future osteoporosis), increased my risk for cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative diseases, had no boyfriends because I had zero sex drive, lost my hair, slept only 3 hours a night, spent my days thinking about how I could get warm again, was mentally fixated of food all the time, and was constantly bloated and constipated.

11 years of this!! I would have pulled my hair out but well...nature was already doing it for me.

I could have gotten my body out of a serious state of ill health had I just received guidance and support during this journey and have someone hold me accountable to my recovery goals. Instead I spent years yo-yoing between recovery and old behaviors. At the end of the day I ended up making many big compromises in my routine with no results.

I wish that I would have just stuck to recovery and gotten it over with years ago. You may be feeling the same way thinking, "Why didn't I do this years ago! I could be done with this by now!!". So imagine you in 2 years still doing the same behaviors that got you to amenorrhea debating once more whether you should start trying to recover thinking " Why didn't I do this years ago!". Today is the day my friend, no more putting it off.

Time and time again I hear my clients say that one of the best parts of coaching is simply talking with someone whom 100% understood what they were going through and had recovered themselves. This gave them the inspiration they needed to recover themselves.

I don’t know if you are like I was but I had a million questions-- should I up my carbs? Is hot yoga going to put me back in my recovery? Why is my stomach bloated and will that ever go away? I am extremely hungry all the time, is it okay for me to be eating this much? All my weight is going to my stomach, is this normal? Should I eat processed foods or stick to whole foods? Is weight training stress on my body?

And the most famous question of all--- HOW LONG IS THIS GOING TO TAKE!?

I'm sure you have had some of these questions? Or you have other questions that you want to be answered. Many questions you haven't even come up with yet because they don’t arise until you start going through recovery.

This time is already super stress full, doing it alone only makes it that much harder.

Check out what laura had to say about us working together

“Having gone through these therapeutic coaching sessions with you is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I'm braver, more connected and happier than I have ever been in my life. “
